TNT gets Williams for Smart-Gilas

MANILA, Philippines -- Talk ‘N Text and Sta. Lucia Realty have struck a deal sending Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes and Charles Waters to the Smart-PLDT franchise.
According to PBA.ph, TNT first acquired Ogie Menor from Barako Energy Coffee, giving away their 2nd round pick in the 2010 Annual Draft. The Tropang Texters then sent Menor, along with Ali Peek, Nic Belasco, Pong Escobal, to Sta. Lucia.
In return, Sta. Lucia released Williams and Reyes to TNT.
Later, Barako Energy Coffee traded Yousif Aljamal to Sta. Lucia in exchange for Charles Waters. The Coffee Masters then shipped Waters to TNT to get Mark Isip.
TNT worked the deals to get Williams to play for the Smart-Gilas RP team. Both TNT and Gilas are under Smart-PLDT.
“Talagang gusto ni coach Rajko Toroman si Kelly, so hihingin ko sa PBA Board ang approval for Kelly to be loaned to the RP team,” said Smart-PLDT official Ricky Vargas.
Vargas, however, stressed Williams’ priority would be TNT.
“Iba ang magiging case ni Williams kaysa kay Japeth Aguilar,” said Vargas.
He explained that Williams will play for Smart-Gilas on a short-term basis, unlike Aguilar who will be in the RP team until after the 2011 Fiba Asia Olympic qualifier.
Vargas said Toroman also want to acquire Jarred Dillinger for Smart-Gilas.
