Malignaggi again says Pacquiao up to 'something' with PEDs

MANILA, Philippines -- Former world champ Paulie Malignaggi again aired his claim that 7-division champion Manny Pacquiao is into “something,” alluding that the Filipino boxing superstar is into performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
“With Pacquiao, I have my reasons why I think he's on to something. I know him and I've seen him over time,” Malignaggi, former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight champ, told Doghouseboxing.com.
The Italian-American boxer, who will be facing Amir Khan on May 15, said he has serious reasons for insisting on his claim, contrary to what other people think.
“I'm not a complete idiot that just accuses people of something without having my reasons to believe what it is I'm saying,” said Malignaggi.
Malignaggi earlier backed Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s suspicions that PEDs were the reason for Pacquiao’s recent successes against bigger fighters.
Mayweather’s camp had demanded that the Filipino undergo Olympic-style blood testing before their supposed super fight in March. This led to the collapse of negotiations between the two boxers.
When pressed to specify his reasons for the PED claim, Malignaggi only cited Pacquiao’s “sheer size”.
“All the lean muscle he's put on in such a short amount of time, the size of his head. And how does a guy just jump from featherweight and just walking through welterweight killer like [Miguel] Cotto? It just doesn't make any sense,” he said.
Busy campaigning
Pacquiao is currently in the thick of his bid for the Philippine Congress. He is seeking the lone congressional seat of Sarangani in Mindanao in the May 10 polls.
He will be facing Roy Chiongbian, whose family is reported to be well entrenched in the province.
Pacquiao is also thankful for Shane Mosley's approval of his political aspiration.
"Salamat at naintindihan nila na gusto kong makatulong (I thank them for understanding that I want to help)," he said.
Mosley said that for a ring fighter to attempt to be in Congress can already be considered an accomplishment.
“To even get that far and to be able to run for Congress is a great thing, a great accomplishment for a fighter, for all fighters. He's doing a great thing. He has the spirit of a champion in and out of the ring,” he said.
