Manny Pacquiao heads home after stay in Mexico

Manny Pacquiao was treated like a king by his Mexican hosts including well-known and respected promoter Fernando Beltran and Governor Ney Gonzalez of Nayarit, one of the most enchanting tourism spots in Mexico bordering the Pacific ocean.

Pacquiao, the acknowledged pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” his lovely wife Jinkee and their kids returned to Los Angeles Thursday and will leave aboard a Philippine Airlines flight on Friday, arriving in Manila on Sunday morning.

Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz who traveled with the party to Mexico described the visit as “fabulous, unbelievable” revealing that at a press conference arranged by his hosts Beltran and Governor Gonzalez “there were more media there than Manny has in a fight.”

Koncz said it was “a great experience for Manny and his family and they allowed us to relax.” He said when they went to the shopping mall everybody rushed to Pacquiao to take pictures and get his autograph.

The adviser said the best part was when the kids saw the dolphins which Pacquiao also watched and “the second best thing was when they went aboard Beltran’s yacht for a few hours.”

Koncz said Pacquiaio was “very relaxed, spent time with the kids and that’s what a vacation is all about.”

Beltran himself told us “it’s been beautiful. Its an honor to have him (Pacquiao) here in Mexico. The people love him down here.”

There was also an unexpected business aspect to the vacation as Koncz told us that Goveror Gonzalez was “going to buy three co-promotions from us this year. It went very well.”

Koncz disclosed that MP Promotions had tied up with Beltran who heads Zanfer Promotions of Mexico to do fights and “the Governor was so happy and impressed with Manny that he wanted us to do three shows” in the province.

He also indicated that the tie-up would mean the staging of several fight cards around Mexico.

Koncz said they hadn’t even thought about negotiations for a possible November showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr but that he would get an update from Top Rank promoter Bob Arum before they leave for Manila.
